pictures in singnatures

how come we can't put small pictures in the signature area? some one mentioned something about the loss of the flag and i got this of the net and it's only 2.3 Kb. if we can put this under our signature it might be a compromise.

We will come up with a plan for expanded sigs sometime soon. Right now our first concern is the old forum database. We made a big step forward today. Hopefully the tech guys will be able to get it online shortly.:)
 
Well I am going to be a spoil-sport and put in a vote against it - unless the size is forced to be very small. I am basing this opinion on what I see on the AUSubaru.com forum.
Already headers and signatures dominate most threads in this forum, but why are we here? Surely it is to read what others have to say and then perhaps to contribute. In that context, attention-grabbing headers and footers only make it more difficult to do what we come here for.

Just my 20c worth.

I have seen many a forum that have had signature areas that are plainly stupid. And it seems to be a case that people just try to out do each other.

I am happy with signatures being limited to text, although the flags where good.

Maybe we can all but a small flag in out avatars.......
 
If you don't want a flag in with your signature, it can always be added to your avatar as a moving & changing one, like the one I now have.

yeah it is only a small file as i mentioned and it does not matter if it is in the avatar or not when it comes to downloading a web page. i'm proud of my flag and would like people to know where i'm from. i'm not in it for a "best picture comp" just a solution for the missing flag which we had before. i'm a member of AUsubaru as well and yes they do have detailed and big pics in the sigs but it doesn't effect browsing and loading speed. the files are tiny. all i'm talking about is a 2.3Kb flag. we post pics of trips and all sorts of info in the Megabytes.

+1 for a small flag pic in the sigs. i'm on several forums that have sigs that are way out of hand...but it'd be cool to simply have a sig-flag-selection chart (sorta like smilies) that you guys limit the size on.
 
I cannot even add a Short signature with my name and web page addy yet it seems others can. Am I doing something wrong?
 
I'm not sure what is up. You went into your User CP / Edit Signature and couldn't add a custom text?
I tested signatures on our test users account and they seem to be working. If you can't get it to work PM me what you would like and I'll add it via the backroom. :)
 
Im against pictures, but we really need more characters. Its often handy when someone posts a comment, you can actually look at their sig to see what car they have and whats done to it.
 
I'm all for pics! A picture can tell a thousand words as the old saying goes - It certainly beats the 50 CHARACTERS that are allowed at the moment... I had to "tweak" my new sig a few times to get under the allowed character limit.
