got my car back today. did the mission back to Oberon with a mate who offered to drive me. dicided to make a day of it and have a round at Oberon golf course. reckon i got away with it pretty cheap. $88 bucks for 1 drive shaft although i bought 2, $75 labour, $30 golf, $40 lunch, $50 petrol + a few bits and pieces. all in all it would have been heaps more for a tow back to Sydney.

Great to hear that you got your OB back. :)
Price wise, it sounds like you got out of it fairly well.

By the way, I have your tarp. Some how it ended up in my Forry.

So have you replaced both shafts now?

no. there was a bit of a stuff up at the mechanics and he was really pushed for time. first he said he couldn't do my car until the arvo when i was booked in at 9, so i had a bit of a whinge and told hm how far i come so he did it within the time i played 9 holes. i'll put the other one in on the weekend:ebiggrin:

Did someone say trip? Where's Chichester?

Good to hear you're back in your car Eden. Obviously would've preferred not to cost anything but not too bad.

Chichester is around Barrington tops area.
yeah i think i'm pretty lucky to get away with that

Eden,

Apropos my queries elswere on the forum about recovery points, where did you hook up when you needed the tow / snatch?

Just the screw in point? Did you use a second spot, and if so, where?

Funny how that happens eh?

I'm itching, which is a problem - I don't have the lift yet and I know I'll want a track that's a challenge...

Glad to hear you got your OB back on the road. Bugger about the shaft being a dodgy bros unit! I guess that's one of the reasons why I'm my mechanic... I'm currently an interior designer too

And I hate the way photos don't show the true feel of a track - rutted tracks look a little rocky, steep tracks look a little flat... That's why you've got to be there

Cheers

Bennie

Has been an interesting process trying to find detail regarding 'how to' for front snatch points. Seems from the thread on the Aus Landrover site that even they don't have proper front recovery points!

And the 'big blokes' call us 'soft roaders' really!?

yeah i was getting snatched up some pretty steep inclines and the tie down points were sweet. but then again subalex was very good and thoughtfull how the job was exucuted ;).

Great to hear your back on the road eden!!!
thanks mate. i'm pretty stoked. right now :discomonkey:

If you can tow off road with the tie downs then I guess it should be OK to use them for a snatch.
Just remember to let the person know, thats snatching you out, that they should only need a gentle tug to get a Subi out. :iconwink:

Sometimes the big boys forget that, & go hell for leather, which is not really required most of the time.
