Is this a relay poblem as well...On sunday night one of my low beam headlights died...I thoght no problem must be the globe. Then tonight the other one died as well, but high beam still works.

I upgraded the bulbs about 12 months ago to Narva Night breakers but they still run 55/60W as per the original factory fitted ones.

To make things worse when I dip the high beam the Narva 175 's spotlight wont turn on which are set up to turn on with the high beams. I had an original Narva relay switch fitted when they were installed just 6 months ago complete with an overide on/off switch located inside the coin box...which is normaly illuminated blu but now thats dead too!!!!

Any suggestions guys? I had it professionally fitted just 6 months ago so I suspect that any faulty parts should be replaced under warranty..right?

Frequent blowing of OB 05 low beam lights.

Don't have spots, but recurring problems with low beam. I have had the outback since Dec 09 and noticed last night that I have now blown my 4th low beam in that time. Now twice on each side.

Four globes in 18 months seems bit excessive to me. Is occurring both sides. Last set were quality 'white light' type, can't remember the brand but were relatively $ive.

Hardly seems like a wiring problem, are all globes just 'cr@p' quality these days? What are the experiences of others?

have you replaced the globes? i know subaru do weird things with switching the negatives. if it is a coincidence that both went out it might have something to do with that?

I had a BA Falcon that kept blowing globes. Problem finally sorted when I got a new car.... It may be a connection issue, or a heat build up issue. Not physically touching the glass bit of the globe are you?

3 weeks since this post and now the "Phillips 4000K Blue Vision White light" globe on the other side has blown. That is two high quality 'white light' globes installed approx. mid - Oct last year have blown within about a month of each other.:twisted::twisted: I really am pssed off with this.

This sticky on SubaruOutback.org about lights is very instructive.

My 'blue light globes are obviously paying for the extra light being generated via reflected heat from the blue coating, with a life of only 250 hrs.

Will fit the 'spare' globe I purchased 3 weeks ago, and see if I can source some of the "HIR, Halogen Infrared Reflection" bulbs referred to in that post. Anyone had any experience with these?
What are others running as low beam headlight bulbs?
