Hi guys,

I am searching for the instructions on how to fix a radiator fan cut out swithch, preferably one with OFF/AUTO/ON positions. I know I've seen it somewhere but can't find it. I have tried the search engines on various forums but the words "fan cut out" are too common and it doesn't display any results.

thanks

I think we've discussed it but not actually done it yet. Fortunately I already have a 3 position switch for my "off" switch. My "simplistic" thoughts without any testing are: supply separate earth=permanently on; switch existing earth = off; switch in neutral=auto.

I'm assuming here that positive supply is continuous once the ignition is on and the fan switching is via the earth.

G'day Mr Peck.

That's what I was thinking too, and came up with the circuit below. Note that the wire colours could well be different on your car.

Then I found some wiring diagrams out of a factory service manual, which show a third relay for fan mode, and a fair bit more complexity. I think my method will still work though. Who wants to be the guinea pig ?

good ay' when i did mine i just got an off/of switch (maximun amp i could fine i think is 25a for memory) and wired it into the +ive wires going into my fans. this means that when i turn them off they are off and no current gets to them but when i have the swith on that run as normal, coming on when they usually would.

yeah, that threw me too - I don't know what that relay is?

Good diagram - but one would expect no less from GOD! :iconwink:
