Anyone got any ideas on who to see to retune my car for a bit of extra grunt down low?
Don't want anything major, just some extra bottom end, for towing, and it will need to be done by a reliable mob. MRT? Thanks.:bananatoast:

you might want to look into getting rid of your intake reasonator and replacing your exhust system with a extractor system;) this will require a retune anyway but will give a lot more bottom end torque, + 20HPish

MRT got back to me and they can't/don't retune N/A cars. Only Turbos. They also suggest a new exhaust system and to expect around a 10% increase in torque.
Might just change the exhaust. Sounds like it's all getting to expensive.
What is the 'intake resonator'?

RE: intake resonator, its just an extra airbox that Subaru put in to stop the "snorting" noise whilst under acceleration.

Pretty much just jack the RH front up, remove the wheel, remove the guard liner forward of the wheel arch, undo the lower nut that is on the resonator (T1 next to item 11).

In the engine bay, remove the nut in the engine bay that is next to the airbox (T1 on the right of item 14 ) from in the guard you should be able to pull the resonator out.

Refit guard liner and wheel, remove jack, lower bonnet, drive.

yeah the reasonator lets the engine suck the air in instead of it being slightly forced in, which will lower the air to fuel mixture; hence less power and torque. it will give the engine a more raspier sound. this mod isn't very good if you go offroad and cross rivers as it will act as a conduit for water to your engine. a snorkel is a better idea for this. there was a great link from another forum about gettng "more from a N/A engine" i'll look for it and paste it up

Thanks. My idea of looking for a bit more grunt is all about my planned trip around OZ which, hopefully, WILL include crossing a few creeks and lots of dust and dirt. I can't risk doing anything that will have any possibility of affecting reliability or sucking in water or dust etc.
MRTs agent at the Central Coast rang me today. I think they said they were called RPM or something and his only suggestion was extractors ($695),new mid pipe, ($200approx),fitting ($220approx) and a new exhaust. Just not worth it to me.
I think i will just stick a better exhaust on it.
I'll check out your link if you find it Eden.
