rear clearance

I've been clumsy on a couple of occasions and have damaged the rear bumper on my 2007 Outback. A skid plate in back seems like it might protect against this body damage, but I don't know if it's even possible to install such a thing. Any advice? Thanks, Chris Hatch, bouncing around the...
