Hi All,

Just got a CREE Light Bar, im mounting it to the front of my 03 XS but I want to use the factory switch points for the Light Bar switch.

would it be best to go see subaru to get the switch or is there other places to get the switch?

ill post up pics later once I get home.

Thanks

Are there any Subaru wreckers in your vicinity?

If so, try them first.

are you after an actual switch or the blank switch panel ?
some factory switches like the cruise control , is momentary so no good for your lights (but great for the manual intercooler waterspray )

see if you can get hold of a spare fog light switch and use that. that way it looks super neat!
If you're really keen you could even disassemble it and change the colour of the backlight (if it has one) to tell it apart from the actual fog light switch (if you have them)

Thanks guys,

soooo iv done some looking around and the local subaru dealer in canberra, great guy working in the parts area was really good, I told him what I was after and what it was for. He said it was a great idea but dont get the switch from the dealer as the switch was going to cost $71! He then gave me the part number for it and number of a wrecker to call.

After looking more at the wiring harness that has come with the light, it has a deadacated switch on it, im just going to use that as I dont want to be rewiring something that already works well. Im just going to have the switch tucked away out of plain sight.

Ill still look into using a fog light switch, but that will be down the track as the local wreckers iv talked to have not had any come in with that switch.

Ill post up pics once I wire it up this weekend

Not sure if it will affect you and depends where you get your power source - but keep in mind that Subies are negative switched.

I could not wait till the weekend to wire it up, so its now done and I used the supplyed switch and just mounted it to one of the blank spaces. The light performs far better then I was expecting. The stats of the light when I bought it said "1000m spot & 800M spread" and well its dam close to that! the spread is amazing! Powered of the battery & wired into the high beam wire off the head light.

Got a link to the light bar you bought?

looks good!

was out for abit of night offroading last night and I am amazed with the light, very pleased with how it performed

Looks good, mate.

The price is terrific too. I would have to buy a number plate light bar to mount this on as well, not having anything else available.

I really doubt that I need this anyway, as I don't plan on doing much night driving nowadays in places where these lights would be useful. Both our SG and SH have relatively decent lights standard - not like the marginal (standard) lights on my '93 Impreza.

Observing the prices of LED stuff over the last year, I can't help but notice that the prices have dropped very dramatically during that time for all sorts of items. So they should. After all, the components are hardly expensive! I suspect that the prices will continue to fall for a while yet.

I've been doing quite a bit of looking for a well priced and quality light bar lately. This seems to be the best bang for the buck that I've seen so far! a lot of the cheaper lights have a lot of negative water intrusion reviews. looks like this lamp is still rated IP67. thanks for the link!

Do you have any On/Off night time pics from the drivers seat?

Yeah it is pretty good value that's for sure. :)

Here is another link that caught my interest in the value for money stakes.

This is what I ended up buying. The Mrs suggested that I buy locally for once for simple ease of warranty claims if misfortune happened. Not the cheapest but locally supplied, 5yr warranty, genuine American crees, and one of the only lightbar on the market advertised to be waterproof to 30 metres with warranty.

As with all new technology, the prices drop & quality increases, but seems to be doing this very quickly with light bars.

Very nice find Lilldoofdoof
