With my old exhaust suffering a terminal end, I sourced a new (old) exhaust middle section & muffler from a wrecker:

I decided to reinforce the new exhaust & also do some rock sliders so it didnt catch on rocks:

Now it should last a bit longer lol

Next stop...the exhaust shop to get it in the hangers instead of hanging by coathanger wire

nice idea !! hopefully the new bits grow at the same rate the exhaust does or you might have a problem as it gets hot ?

Looks great NachaLuva!!!

Hope it works out OK. Having mangled a muffler on a stump myself, a set up like that might have saved me from buying a new one.:)

I like the idea! I know my muffler, well whole exhaust is completely mangled and the muffler is half the standard size. Lol
I need you over here to do some welding for me. Haha

Lol :raspberry:

hadnt thought of it expanding as it heats up, I hope its not a prob, more worried bout the rust on the parts I welded. Not sure if theres an anti-rust paint thats also heat proof.

You might get away with a cold gal spray ?
Or I'd just steel wire brush them and paint with a caliper/brake paint
Once it cooks itself its pretty tuff

Now that is an interesting & top idea NachaLuva

Well done mate

You'll have to let us know how it goes on your next offroad adventure :)

Might try that

Thanks. Not so happy bout how low it sits. I'm getting the muffler lifted higher but the middle section sits up against the drive shaft bearing so its bit exposed :(

Very nice Nacha

Exhaust sliders, GREAT idea and build!
I need the same setup, during my last ride at URE my muffler got bumped rearward and now vibes on the trailer hitch....stills needs to be adjusted forward.:censored:

Looking good Nachaluva! Great idea on the exhaust rock sliders, now to do your sill panels

I've noted from another thread elsewhere on the interwebs that your exhaust isn't higher due to the centre muffler/resonator - thought about moving it out of the way of the centre bearing of the tail shaft? I'm sure that would get it higher, but I don't know if there's some equation that dictates where the centre muffler has to be placed in an exhaust setup though.

Cheers

Bennie

I've thought bout moving it bout 100mm further forward but that would require cutting/shutting the exhaust at 2 points...maybe sometime
