I took my 2000 2.5RS on the ice this weekend at Georgetown Lake! Friday was the "fun day" ($5 for 4-5 hrs of fun), so my buddy Ryan and I drove up together in my car and left his Chevy in the town (the club doesn't allow 2wd vehicles

). Since I'm running all seasons we had this crazy idea. We swapped wheels between our cars!!

He just got a new set of studded tires for his Chevy Beretta, and since those have the same bolt pattern as our Subies (5x100), we've figured we'd try his Chevy wheels on my Subie

What do you think??

The Chevy wheels are 15's and have a very slightly larger center hole so they fit well (I would recommend different lug nuts though as the bolt holes have a different shape). The offset makes them sit a little wider too

My wheels bolted up onto his Beretta, but because his hubs have bigger center rings, we couldn't have torqued them on. Which was ok since we were leaving his car just sitting at the parking lot in town.

It was a very cold day with the temps way below freezing, the wind chill factor, and the fact that we were on ice. But nevertheless, it was a great day!! Even when we were driving the open ice racing Jeep for over a half n hour straight (that was f*in COLD, but too much fun to stop!!!!)

Ryan's Chevy wheels were holding up and the tires felt pretty darn good which allowed for some good fast driving!

We had a great time on Friday! I have some videos too that I have to process first and I'll upload them later (soon)! I also went back to the lake yesterday for the street stock competition on my regular all seasons. I got 4th. But that's for another thread...

That is cooooool Man Dont tell every body you had Chevy on a subby:eek:

Nate

Wheels look good - so does the fun on the ice!

You could, but not for the $5 fun days. Bolts are strictly for competition. I'd rather go with some european rally studs as those would be a bit easier on the car :iconwink: They would still provide enough traction to get some crazy speeds :bcool:

Why not?? I think those wheels look hot!

They do look good its that I hold my Subby on a higher plateau then a Chevy :lildevil:

Nate

That looks like fun alright  but geez it must have cold in that Jeep

Regards
Mr Turbo

You bet!! I couldn't feel my face after about 30 minutes but the adrenaline rush was keeping me nice and warm during the runs. It was pretty brutal in between though, while waiting for our turn  My fingers and my toes were getting numb, I'm really surprised I didn't get any frost bite!

Btw, I'm working on the videos right now, but I think I'm gonna call it a night (1am now). Later!
