Default Scubaru Technologies

Hello everyone have you ever noticed that there are no bolt on snorkel kits for Subarus of any kind. We here at Scubaru Technologies noticed that and would like to change that. We are in the process of building a snorkel kit specifically for Subaru, the hard part is which one. We couldn't decide so we figure it was best to ask. What models and years of Subarus do you want to see a kit specifically made for, let us know. Thanks

The SG has the reputation of being the most off-roady in standard form.
And as they're an older model people aren't generally so worried about chopping them up.

There does seem to be a bit of a thing in the US with the Crosstrek/XV being modded for offroad so that might be worth looking at too.

@Scubaru Tech I also think the Forester is the best candidate as most other Subies have poorer approach and departure angles (unless modified). I would also develop for later models like SH and SJ as I imagine most earlier model owners, like me, would have already found a solution of their own if thought to be really necessary.

Just my 2 cents

I'm a lift kit manufacturer so I might have some insight into which models are modded for offroad the most
I sell probably twice as many SG Forester kits as the next closest which is the SH Forester

If you're only going to do one shape, I suggest doing one that fits well on all models even if it isn't perfect on any. You'll find that most are very similar, with the later models having a more raked back windscreen than earlier models. So if you do one with a lower raked upright, it will fit both

Atm there are several snorkels that fit earlier models like the SG (some bending required with a heat gun) but none that fit the later models too well. This would be the market I would target as it's the most rapidly growing, & a late model snorkel will fit an early model but not vice versa (if done right)

I've fitted a Suzuki Vitara snorkel to my SH Forester and it wasn't all that difficult. I think it looks reasonable. The issue that needs to be addressed by any manufacturer is the air filter box. It's a waste of time fitting a snorkel if the OEM air filter box is retained without serious modification to ensure it is water tight. I gave up trying to use it and opted for a cheap filter box and filter from Aliexpress until I can find a fully sealed unit that uses the OEM filter.

The snorkel I bought came with a length of flexible hose and hose clips. These should be included in any kit that goes to market for Subaru.

A setup that includes a waterproof air filter box to replace the OEM one would be great.
