Venom, Pezimm, Dedman, idw & myself met at the Macedon United servo & after a quick intro & chat, Dedman lead the way into Wombat State Forest. We pulled over to air down, but missed an opportunity to line up the Subies...oh well

We soon found our first bog hole, reasonably deep but firm underfoot

As we went through, it sent a torrent of water into the next bog hole lol, but that turned out to be too easy :(

After a while we found a nice little track coming off the main road

Am I really stuck?

After Venom was winched out, Dedman decided he would give it a go too. Using a lot of momentum, he got a car length further than Venom before becoming well & truly stuck in the goo. He winched out forward then, with a call of "I'll stay out of the ruts", tried coming back. The rear briefly stayed on the ridges before falling in & the front followed soon after.

Stuck again! :rotfl:

As he was winching out I noticed the front wheels seemed to be pointing in a lot. When we got back to the road we found this:

That tie rod is meant to be straight! There had been a tree root in the rut hidden by mud that he had hit pretty hard :(

Adjusting as much toe as possible for the short drive back to idw where they swapped out a spare tie rod

After Dedman & idw left, Venom, Pezimm & myself continued looking for more adventure, also a creek or clean(ish) hole to wash the mud out of Venoms front wheel. It was completely filled with sticky, gooey bog. No water was found, everything was dry, but on the way out we found a few nice little tracks. Nothing hard, just very scenic.

Back home, before a wash:

After we put in a replacement tie rod dedman made another observation from the front of the car "I think i can see into my exhaust from here" :rotfl:. Lucky I threw the old tie rod in the trash after bin day, we were worried for a second looking through the bin trying to find it.

On closer inspection we found his exhaust doesn't so much as have a crack but has separated into the front and back section.

Other than the tie rod incident, looks like a fun outing. Thanks for the pictures, I love seeing how you guys off-road over there.

Bugger! My exhaust has a few extra dents too, even with the slider I added to it. maybe thats what held it together! :rotfl:

There's more on my dash cam but haven't looked through all of it. Got a bit of dedman and nachaluva trying to get through a bog hole they couldn't, but venom did with the lwb unfortunately i didn't get a vid of venom's beast climbing out of it.

Open diffs ?

Don't you have a rear plated ? Is it efficient ?

Nice vids too, IDW :iconwink:

yep, thats what I meant, having the plated rear diff made a big difference, so did the muddies. Watching idw's vid getting diagonal wheel spin highlighted his open diffs

I'll also agree, the Love Boat looks great :raz:
Also a big bonus that your roof basket fits under too.

Another bonus with it up there on top of your basket is it can/will kinda act as a wind deflector at the same time :iconwink: :)
