Create your own thread showing off your mods and adventures.
We have set up this new forum as a personal web space for members. We’d like to encourage everyone to start their own thread showing off your car. This is your personal space to show off what you have done. Also, we can link these pages to your signatures lines. I know there are some of us whose mod sig lines could take up a whole forum page. By doing this we can keep the sig lines relatively short and clean yet still allowing easy access to what we have done with our Subaru.
so new car , new project m new plans for it , and gathering new info what could be done witt it and choosing what fits me what i bought how it looked in my yard next day changing inside and some outside bulbs to led's examples for myself how lift would look with my rims and how bumper cut would look so normal steps for me do lift at least as much as in that pic, and then maybe cut bumper car how its sits now, how +5cm would look and then +7cm wheel is in the air would need bigger tires for better look there. checked front arches for rust and how it looks, and put some bitumen spray over there , and then put back that plastic cover back front grill plasti dipped to black how it looks in dark with some lights
Well, I bought it, and I have to say that what SKT has done is truly inspired. It’s a freaking rocket on the bitumen, and it has an enormous amount of grunt offroad. Engine transplant thread is here: https://www.ausubaru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16564 Here’s a little log of bring it home, and it’s first offroad trip once home. Jan 29th I flew to Coolangatta. Scott picked me up at the airport and we went for a drive. It didn’t take long for me to be convinced that I should buy this. Sure, it had a couple of issues, for example some worn out bushes in the front end, and a cooling issue, but I could tell that this was a VERY serious vehicle. Brought it home via Lismore and Casino and then to Tamworth for the night. Next day...
Hey All, wanted to start posting up my build that going to be taking place over the next few months (maybe over the year). I have a 2005 Forester XT (5spd manual) that i have owned now for about 6years and now i bought a new daily, so instead of selling it i will be making it into a overland rig for myself and the family to go camping! This is what I would like to do with the forester…. -tallest lift springs/strut combo we can come up with, then strut spacers and subframe spacers to accommodate 32-33”tires (or long travel coils, undecided on this) -radius the quarters and fenders to accommodate 32-33” tires (not sure its possible with struts and spring combo) -fabricated tube front bumper with winch -fabricated tube rear bumper with...
Hi Everyone, I bought my XT Forester in 2015 and mildly modded it with a 3inch turbo back and tune. I've been taking on camping trips since owning. In 2021(during the covid lockdowns) I found this Forum and added Kgari(Fraser Island) to my bucket list. This is where my offroad mods started. Subaxtreme bash plate Subie lift oz 2inch lift kit (2inch front, 2.5inch rear) General Grabber AT3 on 16 inch forester rims Yokahama Geloanders road set on 17inch forester rims DBA T2 rotors and pads front and rear Varex muffler(to reduce cabin noise) Here are a few photos of before and after lift kit installation. I took it to 4wd tracks in Anglesea, Victoria and it's capability amazed me. The difference in handling actually isn't too bad...
I wasn't going to do a build thread as I didn't think I needed major modifications. But looking back all the minor tweaks over the years have built up. Actually, it has still been less then two years. So here we go... When I got my Forrie it was the only SG series II that I could afford on my uni student budget and despite a few minor problems (lack of oil and radiator fluid) it was still so much nicer than any of the series I's that I test drove. This was my first car and has still been my only car. I originally got it because I wanted a 4wd that was still nice to drive. After reading through the forum my first mod was my DIY mark I bashplate which I installed before doing any offroading. Did a few surf trips and a few trips with...
Hey all Bought this 99 SF a couple weeks back, came with what I was told was a lift kit, turned out to be a “lift kit” and tyres that weren’t ideal in size for steering haha Ended up downsizing from the 245/70 16’s to 215/70’s, they're the BF Goodrich KO2 AT’s and sitting nicely on modified impreza steelies And it seems the server cannot process the pics because they’re too big, so will try to work that out and share them later I too recently purchased a set of the empire UEL headers and waiting for them to get to me, hopefully get sent out this week, mine is however only an ej20, so hopefully don’t run into too much of a difference in block deck length to be able to make them fit, it had them listed as being for 2.2 and 2.5, but...
Recently purchased a $500 SG Forester. This and the photos may raise a few questions so i'll answer them so you don't have to ask Q: What is going to happen with the L-Series? A: Cleaning of the L-Series will be finished and then it will be sold. Q: Why was it so cheap? A: The owner said the clutch wasn't working, now have found out it's just a missing clutch operating fork. Also won't run on it's own fuel and sounds like only 3 cylinders. Q: Where is the airbox? A: The owner had taken the airbox off to inspect the clutch. and it has been washed since the photos were taken Here are some links to the photos: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/311075435306024961/451697037306757120/image.jpg Night time pick-up...

Jack is a one owner since new (me!) SG MY04 Forester X. He's served us well over the years, mostly as a daily driver for SWMBO with a few camping trips towing a 7'x4' light off road camper trailer as well as board carrier and shuttle bus for the kids. The last 18 months He's been reduced to Camper Trailer puller & Mal/Nipper (surf lifesaving) board carrier. About 8 months back, SWMBO started raising discussions about trading Jack in on "Something Else" to the value of about $15 - 20ksecond hand, hiluxy sort of thing as she felt Jack was getting a little worn out. This was to be used predominantly as a shuttlebus, camper trailer tower & board carrier mind you, but with a view to more adventurous touring.. With a little bit of effort, I...
Purchased the car just before christmas last year. Obviously planning for the full offroad-overland kit out. So far ive only got the rhino roof racks which i scored for $150 and today i just relocated the ECU and put in a UHF.Super excited for next week. Going to be gooooooood. Also quick question, can i fit 215/65/r16 without lift kit
Hey everyone, this is the new build for The Wandering Foz, continuing where the old thread left off: The Great Alaskan Tundra Humper IMG_3756 by jeremiah stewart, on Flickr Goal: I have wanted to race the Baja 1000 since I was a little kid, but a few years ago I came across the Mexican 1000 which is a little more grassroots and easier for a normal guy like me to race in. So that's the goal! I wanted to race in their "Rally Raid AWD" class using my Hotbits coilovers as they were at the max travel for that class, but most years there is nobody in that class. Might as well try to be competitive if i'm entering a race right? So the class I'm shooting for is Score Class 7 or BITD 7200. In the Mexican 1k it'll either be "Heavy Metal Class"...
1WD Foz's Foz Howdy guys and girls, Im new around here and thought id start a journal to document my hopefully awesome adventure modding my 98 FOZ. It all started about 7 months ago when i came up with the idea of buying a second car for my wife and I to use for our 1 hour long drive to work, giving our Honda a rest. Initially i was looking for a cheap Land-rover discovery also thinking we could use this to do some camping and light 4x4ing on our days off, but quickly realised that a Discovery would eat my money in fuel alone so started looking for a cheaper alternative. Then i noticed a nice looking 98 on gumtree for $2000 no reg no rw, 189k and seller says clutch may be due..... I hesitated in calling him for about 3 weeks as i...
Our journey into Suby land started with an '03 Forester and we love them so much we bought also bought an '06 Impreza wagon. Stopover at Kingaroy, Queensland 2019 '03 Forester with slight mods '03 Forester and '06 Impreza together
I bought my '97 Foz in 2002, second hand with 90'000 km. The first year, I changed the OEM springs for Dobinsons, the wheels and tires, 1 inch lift blocks and a 8 mm thick aluminum sump guard after a big dent in the sump but no hole ! The rear Dobinsons were too hard, changed them for SF springs on SG self leveling struts. In 2006, I wanted to go further with the mods and prepared the Foz for a saharian trip to Morocco, fitted some BFG AT's, Quaife front diff, rear SG LSD diff, SG disc brakes and larger SG rear track. In october 2007, ready for the trip, drove about 1'500 km on very sandy/rocky trails and corrugations that blew the rubber of the rear top hats but drove back home with pieces of truck tires (no Subarus in Morocco !)...
I've been recently asked again what mods have I made, so here they are as copied from SF.ORG and needs updating (in process): Mods to my Foz In case of interest these are the mods I’ve made to my MY03 XS to prepare it for outback travel and club events plus other “enhancements”. (I’ve installed everything myself except the tyres, new struts & rear springs and muffler): SubaXtreme bull-bar, rear bar with carriers, sump guard and 40mm lift kit. Better approach / departure angle, ground clearance and belly protection. Added snorkel – having experienced the nasty effects of taking in water, i.e. hydro-locking resulting in a blown motor, this was a necessity before attempting the Cape York trip in 2005. I decided to not go through the...
...not that I really ever went anywhere , but I traded in YotaRu last night for a 2001 Outback. Got home as it was getting dark and couldn't get a good enough photo to post, so that is all you get for now.:raspberry:
Yes, you read right. ANOTHER CHEAP FORESTER!! This $600 2004 XS Luxury is going to be for my Dad so we can both cruise offroad in style when I have my licence. It runs and drives (sort of) so its way ahead of where my Forester was when we got it, seems like the clutch is slipping so going to break out the jacks and bits of wood and get that gearbox out, don't think much is going to happen with this Forester for a while though. Links to photos as they are too big even after resizing them: On the trailer Following behind
