As I understand the law, yes, warranty is void if an aftermarket part is used. Of course, that doesn’t mean if you install an aftermarket air filter you void the warranty on the gearbox. The big misconception here is that services and repairs must be carried out by the dealer. With the exception of warranty repairs, any licensed mechanic can service the car using genuine parts can do so without voiding warranty. The Trade Practices Act is a federal law which prohibits one company (manufacturer or importer) forcing you to have to deal with another particular company (dealer).

Today I went and bought some new tyres. Much to my regret, I was unable to fit the RE003's I wanted to as they are not available in this size or load rating. So I had to make do with some all terrain tyres. Still Bridgestones though, the D697 in LT construction in standard size. I put them on to the CSA Raptor rims and I reckon the car looks ten times better with them on. My neighbour is looking at getting one as well, and asked if I could park it in his garage to see if it would fit. It did, with very little room to spare. His house has the standard size garage for houses these days. When I built my house, I made sure mine was much bigger. Glad I did.

So when are you dumping that awful 'roll bar' for a decent rack system? Or are you putting a canopy on it?

I’m selling the ladder rack, removing the tub and getting a custom body made.

Meanwhile, I got and installed my rock sliders...hope they will be useful. It was a purchase planned from the get go, yet I am still ambivalent about sliders. At least, as expected, those I got, in addition to great rep for strength, look like an OEM part...

You shouldn't go too far wrong with the D697s Rally; the wheels and tyres look good.

Is that what those things are called? Well I never. I've got visions of utes with ladders on them going under low carparks now.

Even better. I'm sure you'll do a decent job of it, would be nice to see a rear setup that actually looked like it was meant to be there (design wise) Most I've if not all I've seen are pretty ho-hum, even those that try to follow the contour of the cab. I think that's why I've got a bit of a thing for troopies. I like the two door wagon look

I looked at Troopies, looked at lots of other cars too. There were a n7mber of requirements I had. One was that the car had to be reliable. No car is totally reliable, and while I had heard of issues with Rangers, other cars like the hi lux, amarok, Nissan and of course Jeep did as well. I also wanted something with minimal set up and pack up times. The car had to fit in the garage. And I wanted the modern conveniences of things like radar cruise control, for example. Whatever I get, it needs to be functional first.

Oh without a doubt. Function over form eveytime. But both at the same time is nirvana..

The Triton's is called a sports bar. It doesn't have the stopper tabs at each end
