I've noticed that our other fun rig - a Toyota HIACE campervan, is starting to get a bit of a saggy butt which has lost about 80mm of clearance and scrapes all the time.

I have replaced leaf springs on a boat trailer before but not too sure about a RWD car.

What I'd like to know is:
(a) Is it still an easy DIY for a garage DIYer?
(b) Do I need specific leaf springs for a Hiace or are they just generic?

Yes you need specific Hiace ones for that year.
Very easy to do. Jack the car uo by towbar or chassis (not diff). Take the weight and pressure off rear suspension so its just on the ground. Then unbolt the shocks. Then springs. They will just drop out.
New ones go in reverse order.
Oh take wheels off also

If the camper is heavy or overloaded go for an uprated spring. Iron Man, tough dog, etc...
May aswell change the rear shackles, bushes and shocks while your at it.
Easy to do in a day and fairly cheap :iconwink:
