Today we have implemented Advanced User Tagging:

Knowing whether you have been mentioned, or keeping up to date on subjects is important to a dedicated forum user. In busy forums it can make a real difference to being capable of keeping on top of the threads and blogs that are relevant to you. Advanced @User Tagging enables users to keep up to date with the threads and posts that matter via a number of notification systems.
Let’s take some time to see how each of these four simple notifications work so that you can get the best out of the system.

Mentions allow a user to be notified when they have been mentioned in a thread. They work very similar to the Twitter system by adding a ‘@’ symbol in front of a user’s username.
In some instances, forum administrators might have required a username to have a ‘;’ semicolon symbol after the username, so as to prevent confusion with email addresses being viewed as usernames.
It is also possible to use a ‘mention’ BBCode tag, which works like regular BBCode and requires a username to be wrapped in Mention tags.
All three work as follows:
@AUsername
@AUsername;
Code:
[mention]AUsername[/mention]
When a user is tagged, it looks like this in the finished post:

Quotes most users already extensively use in forums, but with Advanced @User Tagging, Quotes now receive a notification.

Thread Tags allow a user to be ‘tagged’ about a thread.
You can Tag a user by entering their username in the Thread Tag box located at either the top or bottom of the thread you want to tag them on. Note that you can tag more than one user at a time by placing a comma ‘,’ between each username.
You access the entry box by clicking Tag User(s), enter the data, and then click Submit. Note that you can tag all your friends if you wish by clicking the All Friends checkbox.

Hash Tags work very similar to the Twitter system, where a user can be notified, or subscribe to, a ‘topic’ which is marked by a ‘#’ symbol.
Hash Tags only work if a topic is one word long (no spaces) and must have a ‘#’ symbol placed at the front, and a semicolon ‘;’ at the end of it, as follows:
#thisisahashtag;
You can subscribe to such hash tags, by entering them through your Settings/User Control Panel section.

temporarily disabled while we work through some bugs!

Now active but not working quite as it should e.g. when viewing mentions / quotes notifications the link of the referenced post is not displayed.

I've submitted a ticket to the vendor and awaiting a response. Please report any other strange behaviour to me - many thanks.
