Thought id just put a little bit on here of our day trip to the beach up here in Townsville. Then I saw a trip report in Bunyip State park from Dedman and started having second thoughts. those are some great tracks.

baby steps....

anyway here goes - :)

Thought it would be nice to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon down at the beach with my girls, so about 1130am I loaded the esky and the girls into the Forester and hit the road for the 45min drive south. After about 5min on the road the wife remembered the last time we went out that way and how she would like a bit more shade than just the back door and a wide brimmed hat.
So after a short exchange of colourful language, we were on our way to the local camping store. Will only take a minute she said.
After 5 stores and 1.5hrs we were back on the road with a shiny new 4x4 car shade for $90 and a bonus fridge cover for $5, be handy for the esky. – Junk mail today had a shade for $59... damn it!!
Arrived at the beach around 1330hr and the Forry got us through the potholed sandy access and onto the beach much to the wife’s relief (must get some recovery gear, compressor, lift kit, AT tyres) didn’t even look like getting bogged though. Got a few quizzical looks from passing 4X4 drivers.
Found a nice spot to park up, and put the new purchase to the test. After a few choice words it was up and we were relaxing in the shade. Bloody good idea that.
All in all not a bad little outing, also noticed a sign post for Salmon creek camping area 6klm up the beach, check it out next time, and take the fishing gear I think.

Nice story, here in Europe we have the same sort of wives !

Is that 3rd pic a buried biodegradable Subaru ?!

 it seems no matter where you take the ladies they just have to shop!

Looks like a nice day at the beach.

Yeah went down to Lucinda and did some fishing in the estuaries of Hinchinbrook island. I think the crocs or the tiger sharks must have all the fish because the crab pots were our only result after 2 fruitless days on the water!

Lets hope not :(

You're not wrong about that :p
Unless it involves going to Bunnings, then it's a different story :raspberry:
Then it's usually something like do we have to, it's going to take all day :shake:

But getting back on track, it looks & sounds like a great time was had by all :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Mozza, I think that Mr T has got this in perspective ...

Looks like you both had a pleasant day at the beach, eventually ... :iconwink:.

As for Bunyip SP, don't EVER get the idea that just because it's practically inside Melbourne city boundaries that it's a cat cat.

It took us over 3 hours to get down 900 metres of the Phasmid track, with an overall fall of about 300 metres ... We were plain damn lucky that none of us was injured (or killed; I'm not joking about this comment ... ).

Also search for NachaLuva's trip report on Gentle Annie, also in Bunyip SP ...
