Hi guys,

Does anyone know what's involved, i.e. how much of a headf*%k is it to convert a non-power steering vehicle (91 L-Series Sportswagon) to one with the power steering from a GL or Touring wagon?

Thanks

very easy.
Step1 - get power steering components from a donor car (rack, lines, pump)
Step2 - fit them to your car in place of the manual rack
It should just fit straight in. Probably best you have a bit of a look at a vehicle with PS running already and compare to yours. Maybe the alternator bracket is a bit different so you might need that from the donor vehicle too.

Great Andrew, thanks so much I'll look into this.

As well as the rack, lines, and pump, you will also need the steering shaft uni. Non power steering has one swivel point, power steer have two. You will also need to change fan belts for longer ones. Alternater stays as is.

I haven't done the swap, but did think about it a while ago. Parts were going to cost almost as much as the car, so left it alone as they are not too bad without.

My '94 L (Blue) does not have power steer, but my '90 L (Beige) does.

Beigewagon.
