Outback '01 2.5 4eat VDC project

So couple years ago i bought myself my first subaru ever and after long time thinking took outback against forester. Didint had budget for newer one so went for some 2nd gen that i found

It was 2001 subaru outback 2.5 4eat eith rear LSD and early VDC package. All weather with heated seats, windows, climate control.
It has rear self leveling shocks still ok condition so i left them just put 2" spacer on top. Not sure is it made car harder and less comfy but it can take load very well. But its not soft car to drive fast on bad roads
Then i cut front bumper and put steel skid plate just for engine. Diy it myself from steel sheet from scrapyard

yes it is indeed. and today while driving im positive that my exhaust sounds louder now , well inside . and i like it actually. just some louder noise comes from rear after 60km/h speed, an slower too. think my side rear cv axle need to be changed as it had that rubber broken in winter so for some time im driving with broken axle boot on rear. because it was touching exhaust tube when i was stuck in mud and tried to get out . thats very bad place for exhaust pipe to be its just couple cm gap between it and that axle boot.
then after i changed my front speakers i was leaving that plastic frame on both sides but on passenger side i removed it some time ago and i didint thought it could touch window when it goes down, so today begore driving to cinema i opened passenger window and heard some noise there , then slide it up and that speaker no longer working. guess wires comes off . will be redoing it again guess i need to use that plastic frame that oem speaker was in. , mine was not separate was all frame and speaker as one, so i broke speaker to parts and cut some stuff to have that frame part intact for me.

later day fixed that speaker , so now window wont hit it .

dont feel any more exhaust smeel inside car with that much cut so will just leave it as it is. and i like more pronounce rumble now inside car

changed driver side rear CV axle . was broken rubber boot. found one last used spare i had from last year

pixlr_20180407180223637.jpg

that exhaust tube just touches that rubber on full drop. and if car would drop on exhaust it would push it against that cv axle and brake that rubber as happened for me.
hi lift was not used because its still not done for sides and sides needs to be redone first. and its dangerous too. it can lift car and then later smash to door or worse case window. i got some scratches when i tried last time hi lift on side. but that was in garage on flat surface. now i was working on kinda muddy soft grass, so that hi lift would need extra large pad to work on this kinda surface.
as for exhaust still thinking how else it could go there. not more space there for it and if you hang it lower it become just worse on trails. but thats only problem on full drop or when your car hang on middle. or some large stone would push it up , but as i dont live in stone country yet that's not bothers me

tried diy mudflaps on rear. on front they wont fit because its so small gap when i turn wheel it wouldnt fit there on top on those plastic covers there. so front strut spacer need to be redone for camber and caster offset so wheel would go just slightly to front.
but in rear there is no problem to just hang it part on bumper side part just drill into body . i was drilling new holes on bumper side its strong enough there to hold it on bolts.

didnt had time for better pics from rear and such , later i will make more pics. i like it how it looks. it changes look of all car really.
2 larger one are bolts as those

another one is simple screw into plastic and those inside arch are those , they went into metal.

and i thought why cut some form there if you can just put there square peace as all , why bother with any cut. that way it covers more there.

Mudflaps from other angles. Looks good still plenty space . did 600km trip yesterday so on high speeds they hold ok too. Didint tested them on deep mud yet but on wet road now all dirt goed on mudflaps and not on bumper or inside it as before. Thats what i needed and it works.
pixlr_20180411122046638.jpg

They soft rubber but strong so hopefully wont brake even if would be catch on tire going in reverse. Didint needed them too long just long enough to cover

its that time when your rims / tires change all look of car , mudflaps do that too. now that rear of car looks diff already. even if put wheels on spacers 25mm those mud flaps should still cover them. or i just redo them . its simple as i make very small holes just for bolt to go trough not more.
p.s. now postimg.org locked so no more pics upload there. omg i hate that , first i used photobucket , that got screwed , then imgur, that locked from my pc , and now this ... :/
wait so imgur works again..

was working on hi lift adapter to lift front both sides as well as redone lift points in front. now all is much better and works good. smaller tube goes into large tube and they hold tight not letting hi lift move front or to sides. tested when car was on little hill and no prob lift front wheel.
but pics are large from imgur now they dont fit on screen here. on other forums thats not problem thou.

Loud sound as jet plane starts at 60km/h and then goes louder and louder. At 120km/h even very loud music wont help. And sounds from rear. Guess wheel bearing is gone as i understood from reading about that. Just not sure which side. Sounds like from driver side but cant be sure. First i thought maybe tires but its sounds even like more metalic kinda sound. And thats same side that i allready changed couple yrs ago. Guess cheap aftermarket bearings not hold very long. Good thing that i can buy all in one and change it myself. Bad thing that this way its cost more. Could buy 2 bearings as separate and let specialists change it then. But what if they will do bad job. Who knows.
With that loud sound did trip to Baltic sea. About 250km one way.

If anyone interested where is that sea im going to often its there. And my home is icon too.

Shame that all those areas there are protected and you can only walk to sea, no cars allowed anywhere near sea , not like australia where you just drive to the beach and camp if you like near water. That would be amazing.

Not much surfing there, at a guess probably about the same as where I am ;)

Well with larger wind i saw people do kitesurfing there.
But in summer hot days that beach becomes not so nice to be. People from all country go to one beach it can become croudy
file48616387_e871b4a0.jpg

I dont like that kinda place so i look where or when is less people there
And its funny like if its bad weather beach is empty if sun comes up bammm instant full beach . imagine all that urine from all those people in water .

One of the reasons I moved to where I am now, beautiful beaches hardly any people.

Mind you, you can't swim in the ocean 5 months of the year because of the jellies, and the coastal creeks & rivers are full of crocs, so you can't swim in those anytime really.

Here you can swin in that sea maybe 2 month in year when water is warm enough to enjoy it. I mean its maybe beeing +18 celcious and sometimes even less . so its cold cold water even if air is like 20-30 celcious. We have only jellies there but they dont even bite. But i maybe swim there one or two times in summer and thats it. Then go to lakes some large area of lakes is about 150km from me. Buts its all same and all known many years so not exciting for me. How amazing would be to visit areas that others live in there around world.
Yh crocs are scary or snakes large spiders, bears but mostly if you dont bother them they wont bother you is it? I liked croatia areas near sea very much. Its no citys no large building more like villages near sea there. That kinda remoteness i like best and i dont have any of that here. Thats why here you no need take lots food with you in car or drinks or even fridge because shops / petrol stations allways near you. Well small fridge is ok to keep cold drinks maybe.

another visit in forest

lots job today on car. bought new front strut bolts and rear aligment bolts as they where propery rusted . with that i thought i take out front strut and see what i can do to redo spacers to have camber and caster offset. didint find exact measures to make offset just some info guys said they made 7mm offset from original holes. so took apart driver side and found that my strut spacer is just 4cm not 5cm . so i cut it and did some diy higher to 5cm , and after all i got just little over 5cm even. some 5.2 cm i guess. only one side done and i will drive like that tomor to work.now driver side front is 2cm higher then passenger side. and maybe i fixed camber , not sure yet until i make proper aligment, but from look of it it could be ok and now wheel is more out too wich is good what i wanted.but only one side done yet. and i made camber offset like about measured . not precise or anything . so now im thinking how i will make other side same . took me about 4hrs this one side and ran out off time to finish other side.
now front is 1cm higher then rear. before that rear was about 1cm higher then front . so hmm maybe now its like that because sides in diff height. not sure that ill be ok with that in front but ill see. i mean for cv axles. well people say 2'' or 5cm spacers are max for outback this gen, so i get about 5.2cm spacer now . maybe wont be too bad. but if front will sit now higher then rear it could look funny. specially if rear would be loaded.
well on other side before i had in rear 28 cm ground clearance on rear diff and in front 26cm on skid plate. so now i will raise my front GC and car will sit about same height front and rear, thats if empty. well empty is called with extra battery in trunk and hi lift jack. plus LPG gas tank 40l instead of spare tire. so lots stuff going on in rear allready.

rear camber bolts where so rusty it was not possible to adjuts them anymore so i just bought spare bolts and one spare arm

2Oq8Uhrl.jpg

and later i did adjusted alignment myself diy old school style. you just need 2 large heavy boxes or anything at high about as wheel and some string. i did that for front too. i mean im not as acurate as laser but im still there. maybe missing just some millimeter or so.
Ns7jDGtl.jpg

i can see that front wheels now have more lift thou its hard to see in pics.
aJ9gHr9l.jpg

Looking good in that last photo.

i like it too. no matter how much you lift it it still wagon and i like it for that. its not becomes SUV in form as forester becomes when you lift it . i still have lots space in trunk , comfy rear seats and people dont need stairs to get in in it.
and now as my spacers got camber offset my front wheels are less inside arches , still iwould go with some spacers there, maybe just 15mm , but thats for later. still need to change rear driver side wheel bearing as i think its starting to sound like jet engine at higher speeds. not absolutely sure its bearing but what else could make such sound in rear ? tires , bearing , diff , cv axle. of those all most likely its that bearing .

both diffs oil change

should i go ..

i did go down but no up. too soft sinking sand

other day new adventure. tried to find some cut tree with nice interesting angle to try to drive on it. found some cool one. it was just fiting under bumper and just enough space try to drive on it. but traction control system couldnt take me on top. i felt it was driving like half way on it and then just lost traction on other wheels
