Beigewagon,
Checking for the AEC that the bundles have the correct number, I presume.
Does that make you a Booth Returning Officer / DRO?
I was a poll clerk, state and federal, for many years, as was my dad before me - and my brother still is at the southern end of your seat .
These days I am really saddened to see so many young poll clerks who dress slovenly and really seem ignorant of any but the most basic aspect of the task. (oops, didn't mean to rant!)
If you are responsible for taking the ballots back to the Electoral Office at least you can be confident that the Beigewagon will get through, irrespective of snow or sleet!
For the past 30 years I have 'crossed over' and spend my time handing out how-to-vote cards and scrutineering. (BTW, the last time I was in Rawson was election day 1999. Didn't know a soul, unlike everyone else doing how-to-votes.
By the end of the night however my candidate had won the booth, and the seat.
I thought it was an interesting outcome, in terms of how all the friendly familiar faces had no effect whatsoever on how their neighbours voted.)
Apologies for going off-topic.
