Apart from that, sump guard to start, gives you some protection while you work out how far you want to push things.

What Rally said. A strut top lift will definitely lift your Diff. I've got a SubieLiftOz one. Does the job well and doesn't affect handling noticeably on my SG, not that I throw it arond the corners...

I've read that you are much better off putting logs at right angles to the car if you are doing this sort of thing, much less risk of the logs spiking the car if they snap or the tyre flicks them up....

Going the whole R180 rear sounds like the only logical thing to do, but your rear setup is probably worth the same amount as my car.
