G'day from Sydney!
Hi guys,
I'm Jackson and i live in Sydney. I've been reading these threads for a few months now after i bought my 2014 Forester 2.5i S. I previously had a liberty wagon and loved it to bits but i'm very happy with my upgrade. I've started doing slight mods ie light bar etc. But i've just ordered a set of Method 17" 501s, and have been recommended the new Toyo A/T 2s. Anyone have experience with these tyres? I'm sure they'll do the job! The aim is to have a more capable overlander so me & the mrs can camp where we want (fortunately she's very keen on the idea too). Other gear includes an ARB awning and a room with floor which attaches to the awning. I'm going to have this as my tent (fair weather camping, if it's wild we'll sleep in the car!). Anyway, there's the introduction. Hopefully i'll have some photos to share if anyone is interested! |
G'day & Welcome Jackson. Thanks for the intro too!
First off and if not too late I would recommend you change your wheels order to 16s as they will give you a taller sidewall. |
Thanks for the advice Kevin. The order has been made unfortunately! It should still be better than the OEM mags and tyres though.
|
Suggest you get yourself a sump guard before your next off road adventure. Tyres, as long as they have a decent sidewall and are at the appropriate pressure, are far less critical
|
Thanks mate. Im actually looking at that now. Either a primitive one or ive seen a few posts about a guy on here who makes them. It’s going to be the next purchase for sure.

Subaxtreme as long as not their cast alloy one
|
^ Subaxtreme only make cast alloy for the '14 Foz I believe. I think all the Foz models are cast. The David Wilson plate would be much better.
|
They have introduced sheet alloy ones, not sure for which models.
|
Yep Subaxtreme are making Alloy guards now, they were working their way back from the Newest to older model subarus, and recently did a SG a few months ago, so they should have a Alloy one to suit yours! Benefit would be the Subaxtreme ones are ADR Approved

Interesting - yes, I saw one for an Outback on their site but not the Foz. I guess then it will be a comparison of design, thickness and cost?
