I'm new here!

Hello, I am OneSixty. I currently do not own a Subaru and not old enough to have a licence.
My Dad will hopefully get a 03-05 Pre-Facelift Forester which will become mine when I get my licence. This will hopefully be my first major introduction to vehicle maintenance.

When I'm not dreaming about owning a Subaru I do other things like motorbike riding, I own a Hisun/Yamaha Raptor 400cc.
I also spend hours hunting on Google Earth for abandoned cars, then going and finding them in person. I have currently found 5 Subarus. (1 Impreza, 1 Brumby, 1 Forester and 2 Liberty's)

I hope you have a rough understanding of who I am now.

I also rarely type professionally so this was killing me.

Welcome. Type processionally, haha. :) so hm why you like subarus as cars and not some rwd or fast fwd for your age that would fit more better . what makes you want subaru? Rally legends maybe? That rumble sound, or something else.
Hope you will enjoy here . sometimes it can be pretty empty and dead place as people mostly have other things to do.

I have always been the person who does things differently, the Forester seems to be the perfect match for me. From what I have read and heard from owners Subarus are great offroad, best feeling is when someone tells you you can't do something and you go and do it! The rumble also gets me too :iconwink:

A few interesting old cars once you get further off the main tracks. These are around Mundaring forests. It's a shame they were raided for parts and have ended up like this, but they are still interesting to look at.

Those cars are in good condition compared to some I have found

thats true that you need to decide what car fits you better, but you might be mistaken if you think that 1,2 gen foresters without any mods are very capable. maybe you mistaken from people who did lots mods to them and then they become pretty good offroad. old style active AWD subaru system that needs momentum to go forward.
but then its not that you could choose car so you will just get your dads car, which is pretty good sure, but not as good as outback with VDC ;)

Some cars are more capable than others out of the box. Some have more potential than others. But all that takes a back seat if the drivers stuffs it up. Some drivers are no good at this sort of thing and never will be. Others start out and no good but if willing to learn can be taught and can drive quite well. The least common group have got it from the start and are generally the most capable. And we all make mistakes and get it wrong. Get it right though and you can take an older model car with no mods some places you wouldn’t think possible. That is why you need to have good driving skills first. Then with those skills see if the standard car goes where you want it to. Not everyone wants to take it to the limit. My car is pretty capable but my main preference is outback touring, something a standard car excels at. Only when the cars limitations are regularly reached do you look at modifying them.
