I'm heading off with my MGF (Mobile Granny Flat) on the 14th April.

First stop might be Poona (Qld) as it appears to be a good driving distance for me on the first day. About 317klms.
After that i don't know but will end up back in Innisfail to stay with a mate for a week or two and then, all going well off to Kakadu and places inbetween.
As usual i am not sure what or where i will go.
I'm thinking about ending up back in Innisfail or surrounds and renting a place for a year or two and coming back to pick up my boat and take it up.
I have started to load up the MGF and the other day i got a TV for it. It's a TEAC 24" FHD LED LCD that can run direct off 12v or 240v. Nice picture and i got it for $280 off Harvey Norman.
I've worked out a way to add 2 x 10ltr jerry cans to the van ( don't want 20ltr ones as it is on the drawbar) or 1 x 10 ltr and a 4kg gas bottle. I'm going to raise the tube on the front of the van and bolt on a frame that i can add the jerry cans too. A bit of mucking around but could be well worthwhile. No holes will be drilled in the A frame. All bolted on.
Not a lot of storage space in the van once i start putting in cooking, camping gear, food plus clothes and other stuff so i think i will just
pack stuff and then repack if i have too.
I'll sort it in the end and the next month will drag a bit but all is good.

I'm sure you'll have fun kitting out both your Foz (very nice btw) & your MGF

Have fun & look out for those mobile grannies :raspberry:

Not much to do to the Foz. Just an oil change, maybe brake fluid and a check over although i will be checking the diff oil.
The van will be a work in progress once i get on the road.
I would like the weather to settle a bit up North though.

Well mate, by the looks of it, you could pass by Mt Isa depending on which way you wanna go. So if you need anything, a place to work on the car/trailer, or anything I'm about half way between. I'd suggest a place to crash but you already have an MGF :) Let me know if you want, I'll PM you my mobile number. I know what it's like having no where to work on the rig in the middle of nowhere.

Time is ticking away and i have done next to nothing. I've got the van booked in for a RWC and gas certificate for next Wed. and had better extract the digit i guess.
I'm thinking i might well go to Townsville for a bit to see if i can do something useful for a while re the damage that happened up there.
My mate and i did some work for Blazeaid after the Vic floods last year and it was really good fun.
I tested out my new TV that i got. It's a TEAC 24" Full HD LCD LED that can run direct off a 12v source as well as 240v.
Great picture and i picked it up from Hardly Normal for $280. I got 43hrs (and it was still going) from a 100amp AGM battery. I suppose thats pretty good.
I'm looking forward to getting on the road and heading north. Bloody shame i can't take the boat and think i will re assess things when i get back.
Too bad i can't get it up there somehow but it's a bit difficult towing two things with one car.
Might look up some frieght companies.

Well, i have been at Silkwood ( south of Innisfail) at a mates place for a few days and brought the boat up and am leaving it here.
heading back to the Gold Coast tomorrow morning to pack the van and starting out Monday week for the trip.
I've done a bit of fishing but not much chop.
My mate has a freshwater creek behind his property which is really beautiful and not much in the way of cane farms or banana plantions to pollute the stream.
Really enjoyable.
Have to go as we are just about to take off and he is showing me the upstream area.
Will try to get a pic to post.
Here are some pics of my fishing spot yesterday. Beautiful clear water and only the second time i have caught a Jungle Perch. Mine was only small so i did not take a picture but my mate got a nice size one and his son got 2. Off course we threw them back but my mate tells me he has caught many of them in a good days walking session. Spectacular looking fish and i will try to add a pic to this post later.
Anyway, this is where i was fishing...
